Peugeot 907 GT Coupe
This stunning GT coupé, boasting a very elegant design, is due to be launched at the Paris Motor Show
The 907 is a two-seater coupé, but unfortunately it is at this stage only a concept car. However, we won't be surprised
if Peugeot decides to produce this car in the near future! Under the bonnet
is a 6-litre V12 engine with a power output
of 368 kW. Power is transmitted through a a six-speed gearbox placed
longitudinally in front of the rear axle.
The
wheelbase of this GT coupé is 2.5m, its length 4.37m, its width 1.88m, while
its height culminates at 1.21m.
The kerb
weight is around 1 400 kg.
The structure consists principally of a carbon
fibre shell, to which the mechanical
components, for example,
the four double wishbone suspension units, are
attached. Set into the bonnet, a glazed
panel reveals twelve intake
trumpets reminiscent of a fairground organ. The
roof and front windscreen form a single
glazed area in harmony
with the rear windscreen.
Side vents are
situated in the front wings and rear quarter panels,
adjacent to the glazed roof, while a retractable rear
spoiler is incorporated
in the tailgate. Two exhaust pipes emerge
from either side of the car, which is equipped with
18-inch wheels and
Michelin tyres, 275/40 at the front and 345/35
at the rear. Brown leather and light grey alcantara
trim is used to cover
both the interior and the seats. The steering
wheel rim and the gear lever knob have authentic
wood inlays. The instrument
panel, although digital, is displayed in
analogue style and the touch screen of the central
console is connected to a
PC (GPS, MP3 player, etc).
We arrived at our destination at about 8:35am and after a stretch and some shop talk when to take care of the early
morning
hunger.
An of course the day would not be complete without a bit of car swapping and test driving.
Thanks to all who attended and next time we want to se more faces around.
We are planning a go-karting day which is sure to be a good day out - and this time it wont be so early.
Keep a look out on the forum to see when the next event is happening or drop us some mail and we will add you to

Breakfast Run
Hartebeespoort Dam ....what a cool breakfast !
We all met at Northcliff at 7:00 am and yes it was cold. We left at about 7:40am and made our way to Hartes for
some breakfast. It was good to see everybody
again as well as some new faces.
At last we had a 180 join us as well as a few cars from other manufacturers.

WRC Woes for Marcus Gronholm and Harri Rovanpera
It is with profound disappointment that Team Peugeot Total learnt today of the stewards' decision to exclude Marcus Gronholm and
Harri Rovanpera from the results of the Cyprus Rally.
Although Peugeot Sport presented official documents certifying that the water
pump used was effectively built using standard parts fitted to the homologated engine, the stewards judged that the component in
question did not comply with the regulations. Peugeot Sport's good faith was not questioned but was not sufficient to convince
the stewards.
Peugeot Sport will not appeal against this decision and, to put this disappointment behind them, the team, Marcus
and Harri will now focus all their energy on the next rallies of the 2004 World Rally Championship.

Yeah Baby - 407 Silhouette
The 407 Silhouette is a driving enthusiasts
dream car. It is vehicle for anyone who is looking to combine dynamic
road driving with the
ultimate track day performer. The 407 Silhouette is
designed to be the ultimate expression of a performance saloon. Utilising the
dynamic
and sporting style of the saloon from which it is derived, the
Silhouette takes the performance character of the standard vehicle to its
ultimate
conclusion - while reflecting faithfully the spirit of the original
model.
The architecture of this 'performance' two-seater 407 evokes the
spirit of the Supertouring Championships, with a tubular chassis and a
s
mid-mounted, longitudinally positioned power train. With a length of 4.67 m and
a width of 1.9 m, the Silhouette is slightly wider than the
production car,
thanks to the presence of air extraction vents on the front wings and down in
the side skirts in front of the rear wings.
On top of the roof (h= 1.37 m),
there are two NACA type air intakes that collect the air needed to supply its
6-cylinder engine. With fully
adjustable suspension, the ride height can be
lowered by 4 cm for track use.The smooth, metallic grey bodywork is
manufactured from
carbon-fibre. On each side of the car, a lion’s head emblem is
painted in darker grey and carefully matches the profile of each rear wing.
At
the front, the driving lights of the production car have become air intakes on
the Silhouette, while at the at the rear, two dual exhaust pipes
and a carbon
spoiler affirm the sporting intentions of this very special Peugeot
407.Inside, the fascia panel, central console and front door
panels are based on those of the saloon.
However, the Silhouette’s trim further adds to the sporting theme, with the use
of materials such as
carbon-fibre, black or red leather and vermiculated black
paint used on the instrument panel and central console. The two bucket seats
incorporate leather and black 3D mesh trim. The steering wheel incorporates a
screen that displays the optimum 'racing line' for circuit use.
The optimum
'lines' are based on extremely accurate, satellite supplied, cartographic data
that allows the driver to overlay his own data with
that supplied by satellite.

Introducing The 307 WRC
The 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show will mark the third important event in the recent motorsport history of Automobiles Peugeot, with the arrival of the 307 WRC.
In June 1998, the path to 3 consecutive World Rally Championship titles was laid with the simultaneous presentation of the 206 and its sports derivative the 206 WRC. With victories in 2000, 2001 and 2002, the 206 WRC is again leading the field this year and could indeed make it four in a row for Peugeot. Although the 206 WRC has been one of the most successful and reliable rally cars in this modern era, it is now however time for the 307 to enhance its range with the unveiling of the 307 "World Rally Championship" version: the 307 WRC.
The success of the 206 WRC followed on from the company's presentation of the 205 Turbo 16 in 1983, jointly with the marketing of its little sister, the 205. The 205 Turbo 16 went on to win the Championships (Manufacturers and Driver's) in 1985 and 1986
Based on the top-of-the-range version of the 307CC fitted with an engine developing 130 kW, the 307 WRC is Peugeot's next weapon, its destiny being to replace the 206 WRC at exactly the right moment - it is currently triple world champion. Its arrival in the coupé version will be the result of the great advances in development and the still formidable competitive capacity of the 206 WRC which has enabled the Peugeot Sport team to perfect the vehicle before launching the 307 WRC in competition. Its wheels first turned on Christmas Eve 2002; since then the test sessions have become more frequent, both off and on road.
Pre-planning studies began 15 months ago, a choice finally being made in favour of a CC version of the 307, at the request of Peugeot management and the Marketing department, with the production of an even more effective version of the Coupé Cabriolet also being a top priority.
Although heavier than the 5-door model, like any coupé cabriolet the 307 CC requires a certain number of stiffeners; the 307 WRC project benefited from the new legislation which increased the minimum legal weight of the body to 320 kg. The folding parts forming the roof of the cabriolet are now fixed.
One innovation is the 307 WRC gearbox, a 5 speed Hewland, which is located at the rear of the engine in a transverse position, contrary to the one on the 206 WRC which is in a longitudinal position. A conical counter gear situated behind the centre differential provides the drive to the rear wheels. The three differentials - front, centre and rear - are electronically managed.
Another new feature is that the engine is no longer the XU9J4 but the more recent XU7JP4, still with an aluminium block. Power is approximately 300 bhp (221kW) at an engine speed of 5250 rpm with a torque of 580 Nm at 3500 rpm.

dimensions of the 206WRC and 307WRC 206 WRC 307 WRC Dimensions

2.610 m Weight: 1230 kg 1230 kg Homologation of this racing vehicle
will be required by January 2004. To obtain homologation, 2500 307
CC 130kW vehicles must have been produced, at the same time as 25,
000 vehicles in the 307 CC range, in twelve consecutive months.
